despite the pain he felt he held her trying to help her until the end. he never let go and soon she realized she can control it like branodn said and he held her more trying to help her see that.

he was hurting badly the damage to his mine damaged his soul and in turn damaged his body, he was feeling like it was still attacking even as it stopped and held her all the same.
